BUPT Industry Competition and Regulation Research Center (ICRRC) was established in 2001. The Director of the center is Doctoral Supervisor Professor Tang Shoulian. Professor Tang is the Executive Dean of the SEM, executive member of China Marketing Association, senior member of the Chinese Society of Technology Economics, executive member of the Information Law Association of the China Law Society and executive member of Beijing Information Technology Association. Professor Tang has won many prizes and awards, including the Third Prize of the Technological Progress Award of the Ministry of Industry and Information, the Second Prize of the Science and Technological Progress Award of the Beijing Information Technology Association, the Outstanding Young Scholar Award from the then Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, BUPT Famous Teacher Award, and many more.
Members of ICRRC include many distinguished professors, associate professors, senior managers from telecommunications operators as adjunct professors and many committed doctoral and master candidates.
In recent years, ICRRC has undertaken many sizeable projects, including projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Post Bureau, major telecommunications operators and many other enterprises. ICRRC members have many accomplishments in academic research. Their major research interests are as follows:
1. Enterprise-oriented research mainly includes studies in the following aspects: business models of telecommunication operators, value-added telecommunication service providers and postal express service enterprises; development and marketing strategies including enterprise development strategy orientation and strategy transition; design and implementation of value chain management, market research, service branding, market strategies, service channel, customer relationship and service satisfaction.
2. Government-oriented research mainly includes studies in the following aspects: from the perspective of economics, management science and legal science, studies on government regulation theories and policies; telecommunication and postal industry regulation including market access policy, malfeasant competition regulation, price regulation, universal service regulation etc; Internet regulation including Internet safety, Internet service, cyber culture, cyber human rights, internet misconduct regulation; broadband telecommunication network, the integration of cable television network and the next generation network, etc.
3. Service industry oriented research mainly includes studies in the following aspects: service science, service marketing and service operation, information industry service, logistic service and postal service industry; specific business operation, service procedure, marketing and channel management, information management etc.
